Human Development Report 2013
The Human Development Report Office of the United Nations Development Programme invited selected experts to the Second Conference on Measuring Human Progress in New York on 4./5. 3. 2013. ISQOLS Executive Director Denis Huschka was also invited.
The aim of the meeting was to discuss how best to improve the Human Development Index (HDI) and its related indices (Inequality Adjusted HDI, Gender Inequality Index and Multidimensional Poverty Index): How can they be made conceptually stronger, more statistically robust and easier to use by policy makers, policy advocates and the media?
The Human Development Report 2013 “The Rise of the South – Human Progress in a Diverse World” has meanwhile been published and can be viewed here.
Nobel prize winners Joseph Stieglitz, Amartya Sen and Jean-Paul Fitoussi discuss the recommendations worked out by the conference participants.
